Description

The Helix Nebula (also known as NGC 7293, C 63 or the Helix Nebula keeping its English name) is one of the planetary nebulae closest to Earth. It is located 650 light years from Earth  The Helix Nebula is an example of a planetary nebula formed at the end of the life of a solar-type star. The outer gaseous layers of the star ejected into space represent from our point of view as if we were looking down on a helix. The central core of the star, destined to become a white dwarf, shines so intensely that it makes the previously expelled gas fluoresce.  This magnificent nebula was taken by my amateur astronomer friend Roberto Volpini and he gave me the opportunity to process it. It is a subject that I have never taken up again until now but I have always wanted to try to elaborate. Thanks again Roberto.  Technical data:  Telescope: skywatcher 254/1200 Camera: Omegon 571 ve color Frame: AZ eq6 Filter: Optolong L-Enhance Light: 80 shots of 180" (4 h) Bortle 5
